Hivos, the Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation, is a Dutch
organization working for a world in which all citizens have equal
access to resources and opportunities for development. Hivos provides
grants, averaging 45,000 per year, to non-governmental organizations
working in Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia,
Nicaragua, Peru, South Africa, Syria, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Uganda,
Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Funding is provided for work in the following
areas: Financial Services and Enterprise Development; Sustainable
Production; Human Rights and Democratization; HIV/AIDS; Arts and
Culture; Gender, Women, and Development; and Information and
Communications Technology and Media. Applications may be submitted
throughout the year. The online self-assessment test and Application
Form A are available on the Hivos website.
