International AIDS Society to endorse the Code of Good Practice for NGOs
Responding to HIV/AIDS.
Friday, 19 August 2011 (Geneva, Switzerland) - To further commit as an open,
transparent and accountable nonprofit organization, the
International AIDS Society (IAS) has officially embraced the Code of Good
Practice for NGOs Responding to HIV/AIDS.
This code of conduct, developed by NGOs for NGOs, has set out key
principles, practice and evidence base required to successfully respond to
HIV/AIDS. Also, it provides a framework for collaborations and informs the
development, implementation and evaluation of evidenceinformed programmes
and advocacy.
the Code is another milestone in the strive towards a global consistency
and efficiency for tackling this epidemic says Bertrand Audoin,
International AIDS Society Executive Director the IAS, with a membership
of 16.000, is committed to promote and circulate its
principles and guidelines
478 NGOs have endorsed the Code so far, including the Global Network of
People Living with HIV/AIDS (GNP+), the International Community of Women
living with HIV/AIDS (ICW) and the International Council of AIDS Service
Organizations (ICASO).
