GYCA members participated at the Partnership Forum of the Global Fund in Sao Paulo

Here is a report about the Partnership Forum of the Global Fund, which took
place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a couple of weeks ago, with participation of
some GYCA members. The report is available in english, and spanish below.

*GYCA members participated at the Partnership Forum of the Global Fund in
Sao Paulo where they advocated for a stronger involvement of young people*

Under the slogan *Working together, shaping our future*, the Partnership
Forum concluded a couple of weeks ago with proposals to improve the work and
investments of the Global Fund. The event was attended by youth leaders who
helped the global feedback and strategic direction of the international
organization.**
Members of the Global Youth Coalition on HIV / AIDS, and other youth leaders
in the global network participated in the 4th edition of the Partnership
Forum of the Global Fund, an event that serves to bring the voices of the
implementing agencies, stakeholders civil society, private sector and the
governments of both donor and recipient countries to discuss how to extend
the scope of work of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and malaria and
maximize the impact of investments.**
Under the theme *Working together, shaping our future*, the 3 days of
uninterrupted work in the 4th Partnership Forum took place at the Sheraton
Hotel WTC in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with the participation of more than 350
people around the world, sponsored by the Global Funds Secretariat and the
Government of Brazil.
The event was attended by Shanti van Hoog as a Youth Representative of the
Point Seven Consituency to The Global Fund Board, Adam Garner from the GNP+,
Sergio Lopez from SOMOSGAY and as a NFP of GYCA in Paraguay, Caitlin
Chandler from the HIV Young Leaders Fund, Ivens Reyner from the Youth
Coalition, Gurung Gaj Bahadur from the Youth LEAD, Nelson Jaevion from the
JYAN, Anka Grzywacz from the ASTRA Youth Network and other youth leaders who
participated in the formulation of strategies, as well as the consultations
that will be an important source of information for the Global Funds
strategy for the next five years.
Shaun Mellors, Human Rights Advisor of the Secretariat, said that the
Global Fund is committed to youth participation in its processes, and the
Global Fund must create mechanisms to address the needs of young people and
ensure the participation of young people. Meanwhile, Andy Seale, Senior
Advisor of the MARPs and Member of the Funds Secretariat, said that ''the
participation of young people, especially gay and trans youth in the
decision making process of the Global Fund is crucial to generate a greater
reach and impact of the Fund's work to combat the three diseases. The
inclusion of young people within the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM)
should be guaranteed. The Global Fund's commitment to young people is very
strong, and that should be reflected in all areas.''
*Access, accountability and rights* is what is sought to achieve with the
4th Partnership Forum, with participants from over 100 countries around the
world in strategic processes affecting the Global Fund, and in this time,
with a strong presence of young activists . The recommendations are drawn
from the Partners each guide and provide information to the Board through
its Policy and Strategy Committee, and directly contribute to develop the
framework for implementing the strategic direction of the Global Fund's
strategic direction, combined with consultations line took place before the
Forum.
It is important that young men and women activists from around the world
continue to work to influence international level, but mainly at national
level the development of proposals for the Global Fund, the implementation
of projects and the formation of structures in which it is important to have
young people.

*Miembros de GYCA participaron en el Foro de Asociados del Fondo Mundial en
Sao Paulo, donde incidieron por una mayor participación de los jóvenes*
Bajo el lema *Trabajar juntos para construir nuestro futuro*, el Foro de
Asociados concluyó hace un par de semanas con propuestas para mejorar el
trabajo y las inversiones del Fondo Mundial. El evento contó con la
participación de líderes juveniles globales que ayudaron en la
retroalimentación y orientación estratégica del organismo internacional.
Miembros de la Coalición Global de Jóvenes sobre el VIH/SIDA, GYCA, y otros
líderes juveniles de redes globales participaron de la 4ta edición del Foro
de Asociados del Fondo Mundial, evento que sirve para reunir las voces de
las entidades ejecutoras, las partes interesadas de la sociedad civil, el
sector privado y los gobiernos tanto de países donantes como de países
receptores para debatir sobre cómo ampliar los efectos del trabajo del Fondo
Mundial de lucha contra el SIDA, la tuberculosis y la malaria y maximizar el
impacto de las inversiones.
Bajo el lema *Trabajar juntos para construir nuestro futuro*, los 3 días de
ininterrumpido trabajo en el 4to Foro de Asociados se llevaron a cabo en el
Hotel Sheraton WTC de la ciudad de Sao Paulo, Brasil, con la participación
de más de 350 personas de todo el mundo auspiciado por el Secretariado del
Fondo Mundial y el Gobierno de Brasil.
En el evento estuvieron presentes Shantih van Hoog como representante joven
del Fondo Mundial, Adam Garner de GNP+, Sergio López de SOMOSGAY y PFN de
GYCA en Paraguay, Caitlin Chandler del Fondo de Jóvenes Líderes en VIH,
Ivens Reyner de la Youth Coalition, Gaj Bahadur de Youth LEAD, Jaevion
Nelson de JYAN, Anka Grzywacz de ASTRA Youth Network y otros líderes
juveniles, que participaron en la formulación de estrategias, así como
también en las consultas que constituirán una fuente de información
importante para la estrategia de los próximos cinco años del Fondo Mundial.
Shaun Mellors, asesor de Derechos Humanos del Secretariado, afirmó que *el
Fondo Mundial está comprometido con la participación de los jóvenes en sus
procesos, y aún se deben generar mecanismos que atiendan las necesidades de
las personas jóvenes, así como que garanticen la participación de las
personas jóvenes*. Por su parte, Andy Seale, asesor de las poblaciones más
vulnerables y Miembro del Secretariado del Fondo, mencionó que *la
participación de los jóvenes, y en especial de los jóvenes gays y trans en
el proceso de toma de decisiones del Fondo Mundial es crucial para poder
generar un mayor alcance e impacto de la labor del Fondo para combatir las
tres enfermedades. La inclusión de los jóvenes dentro de los Mecanismos de
Coordinación País (MCP) debe ser garantizada. El compromiso del Fondo
Mundial con los jóvenes es muy fuerte, y eso debe verse reflejado en todos
los espacios.*

*Acceso, responsabilidad y derechos* es lo que se busca conseguir con el 4to
Foro de Asociados, con participantes de más de 100 países de todo el mundo
incidiendo en los procesos estratégicos del Fondo Mundial, y en esta
ocasión, con una fuerte presencia de jóvenes activistas . Las
recomendaciones que se extraen de cada Foro de Asociados orientan y aportan
información a la Junta Directiva a través de su Comité de Política y
Estrategia, y contribuyen directamente a desarrollar el marco de aplicación
de la dirección estratégica del Fondo Mundial, aunados a las consultas en
línea que se llevaron a cabo antes del Foro.
Es importante que las y los jóvenes activistas de todo el mundo sigan
trabajando para influenciar a nivel internacional pero principalmente a
nivel nacional la elaboración de propuestas para el Fondo Mundial, la
implementación de los proyectos y la conformación de las estructuras en la
que es importante que haya más jóvenes.
