Subject: HELP US DESIGN A PEER EDUCATION PROGRAM
Sent: Jun 22nd, 2011 - 11:14:40

  Greetings,

We have analyzed the teenage pregnancy in the small locality of Muyuka and realised that many
young girls never return to school when schools start because of pregnancy. According to Statistics from the
Social Welfare Centre indicate that five percent of girls in Buea, Southwest Province, fail
to go back to school at the beginning of every academic year due to pregnancy. The latest survey in 2004 showed that 5.7% of women aged 15–19 were pregnant with their first child in rural areas.

These young mothers face a lot of problems ranging from being abandoned by the boys and their families, leading to poor health care, poor sanitation, and poor nutrition, maternal mortality etc. We can also induce that these high rate of teenage pregnancy is link to HIV and AIDS prevalence and this posses a
serious threat. It is therefore our desire to design a program to engage these young mothers so that they can go back to school while educating others in schools not to fall prey to this malice

We are therefore seeking partners or organisations that could help us
develop a peer network in the schools in the town and then work to
integrate the other young mothers into the school environment after
birth

We will be glad to have your ideas on what we can do or how
you can help us
