  Dear colleagues,

In preparation for the High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS at the UN, activists,
governments and UN agencies are participating at the Civil Society Hearings that
will start officially tomorrow (April 8th) in New York.

Advocates for Youth, GNP+, GYCA, the HIV Young Leaders Fund, Youth Coalition for
Sexual and Reproductive Rights, Youth R.I.S.E. and the World AIDS Campaign have
prepared some messages that will be used on advocacy during the CSHearings,
advocacy at the national level and also the HLM next June. Attached you will
find a short document with the messages that have been developed.

"The UNGASS Declaration of Commitment aimed to ensure that by 2005 and 2010 at
least 90% and 95% respectively of young men and women aged 15 to 24 have access
to the information, education, including peer education and youth - specific HIV
education, and services necessary to develop the life skills required to reduce
their vulnerability to HIV infection, in full partnership with young persons,
parents, families, educators and health-care providers."

"We respectfully ask governments to redouble their efforts to implement and
support HIV programs for young people and make due on their promises. In order
to achieve the points mentioned above, governments must involve and support
emerging young leaders in HIV-related decision-making processes."
