Are you between the ages of 18 and 30? Have you made a profound impact on
the lives of others? We want to hear your story!

The Society for International Development (SID) - Washington, D.C. Chapter
is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2011
Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation by a Young Professional
in International Development (Rice Award). The award will be presented to
one recipient at the 2011 SID World Congress, a three day event organized by
the SID-Washington chapter in collaboration with the leadership of
SID-International. The Congress will take place at the Omni-Shoreham Hotel
from July 29th - 31st with the overarching theme “Our Common Challenge: A
World Moving toward a Sustainable Future.” This event will bring together a
broad spectrum of individuals and groups working as change agents for
development: leaders and practitioners from the Global South, academics,
senior government officials, international NGOs, private sector
representatives, and development professionals from multilateral and
bilateral agencies and consulting organizations. Speakers from all walks of
life will share their views and challenge participants to join in debate on
lessons learned, key issues of the day, and the way forward. For more
information about the program and registration for the 2011 SID World
Congress, please visit www.sidcongress.org. Check out our discounted rates
for students and SID-Washington members. We want YOU to be a part of this
vital discussion!

The Rice Award recognizes innovation, impact and commitment by a promising
young professional in international development. It was established in 2003
by Andrew E. Rice and Robert Berg as the "Truman Award" and was renamed this
year in memory of one of its chief architects. The recipient of this award
will demonstrate the characteristics listed above, as well as tremendous
promise for advancement in the field of international development. The
selected winner will also recognize the importance of international
development as a means of service to those who are most in need and will
work towards sustainable, people-centered development. The deadline to apply
is 5:00 p.m., EST on Friday, April 29, 2011. Please click
hereto
find out more information about the Rice Award and apply today!

Please feel free to contact Jordana Fraider at riceaward (at) sidw.org or (202)
884-8590 with any questions you may have about the 2011 SID World Congress
or the Rice Award.
