Dear colleagues,
Wed like to share with you CHANGEs blog, written for International Womens
Day, focused on women living with HIV. Were currently hosting a leadership
and advocacy training for women living with HIVwe have 20 participants from
13 countries, including the United States. Its an amazing experience to be
with them.
Women Living With HIV: A Lesson in Resilience and Rights That U.S. Congress,
the World Cannot
Ignore
Teresia Otieno, from Kenya, was 26 years old when she was forcibly
sterilized. It was decided for her that, because she was living with HIV,
her reproductive rights did not matter, and therefore should be taken away
-- permanently. It is a rather astonishing take on where HIV, maternal
health and family planning converge.
