‘Our Children,Our Youths,Our Future’
INTRODUCTION
Imani Community Development Programs (ICDEP) is a non profit making Community
Based Organization registered with the Ministry of Gender and Social Development
Services early in the year 2009 with a broad objective of empowering the youths
and children (with much focus to the infected with HIV) for a better future,
focusing on HIV prevention, care and support to the infected and affected by
HIV/AIDS. ICDEP operate in urban and rural set up of Ugunja and Ukwala Districts
of Nyanza Province in Kenya.
ICDEP believe that today determines the future of our nation thus its focus is
to non –discriminatively engage the youth and children in healthy and productive
practices for a better future.
We envision ‘having a healthy and productive Community.’
MISSION; To empower youths and children in the fight against stigma and
discrimination by involvement of whole community in supporting the infected and
affected socio-economically.
OBJECTIVES
· To enhance HIV prevention strategies among the youths in and out of
school,
· To improve access to quality health care services, Support and advocate
for the rights and welfare of the infected and affected youths and children in
the community.
· Reduce dependency among the vulnerable groups through economic
empowerment interventions

ICDEP is structured where daily activities are coordinated by volunteer Project
Officers under leadership of the Coordinator who is answerable to the board of
directors.
The Organization has a total of 46 volunteers both living positively and
negatively.
Networking and Collaboration Partners
ICDEP work with Child Protection Network, Couple Intervention Studies, District
AIDS Control Officer (DASCO), Ministry of. Health, Children Department, Ministry
of Youth affairs, Education, IMATIBABU Foundation, Provincial Administration,
Constituency AIDS Control Council,
Support received.
Maize support from Red Cross at and Provincial Administration-10 bags,
Received $ 4.7 from CACC,
Currently the organization is being supported by youth volunteers and board
contribution after completing implementing VCT outreaches targeting MARPs
supports by CACC.
Achievements
· We have established children clubs for both children living with HIV
and those vulnerable, 200 children being supported.
· Increase in VCT uptake among the youth-3400 to date
· Reduced HIV stigma and discrimination among the youth thus youth can
share, support and get supported.
· Establishment of support groups for the youth living positively ranging
from 17-35yrs of age.
· ICDEP has established a Bar Service Provider’s Network with membership
of 28 bars within the two Districts,
· Granny’s support group focusing on those living with infected children
· We have established Peer Clubs in primary and secondary schools
· Youth have established saving and loaning initiatives within their
groups
Challenges
Limited resources to support program activities and operational costs.
Inadequate IEC materials with targeted messages
Lack of gadgets for documentation
