Dear GYCAers,
Thank you very much for your time and support throughout the last 5 years of
GYCA's work and particularly in these recent weeks of transition.
After several weeks of discussions and analysis, we are excited to share the
recent decision for GYCA to integrate as a full-fledged program of
TakingITGlobal (www.tigweb.org) and the Global Youth Action Network (*
www.youthlink.org*), our fiscal host for the past 5 years. The regional
focal points, staff and taskforce members, including co-founders, were
involved in making this decision and are excited about further developing
our relationship with TIG and GYAN. TIG and GYAN have been very open and
receptive to supporting GYCA and are a strategic match for GYCA for a number
of reasons, including:
- They are a youth-led, membership-driven organization with a strong track
record of successful youth engagement and programming;
- They display a commitment to providing the human capital and resources
needed to strengthen GYCA's programming and operations;
- They are working to prioritize HIV as a focus area given input and
feedback from TIG membership, and have partnered with GYCA in the past. This
positions us well to spearhead and shape TIG's HIV programming going
forward;
- Lastly, they are well positioned to partner with other organizations
working on youth and HIV issues and can leverage GYCA's relationships to do
this better.
With this merger, we look forward to strengthening GYCA's standard
programming to better meet the needs of young HIV and AIDS activists
globally as well as identifying what may be added or expanded to be more
effective in meeting these needs.
I would like to use the opportunity of this e-mail to introduce you to
Franziska Seel, the Executive Director of GYAN, who will take over the
leadership of GYCA moving forward. Franziska is copied on this email; please
feel free to get in touch with her with any questions you may have.
Thank you for your involvement, advice and support throughout this
transition. We will be in touch as the process moves forward and look
forward to a continued partnership with you and your organisations
--
Thank you
In Response to AIDS!
Ajay
