Intensify the leadership role in HIV/AIDS prevention

*Updated on 7/16/2007 at 17:48 *

*The intensifying of leadership and multidisciplinary cooperation in
HIV/AIDS work is displayed through the collaboration between the two
projects of Central Commission for Propaganda and the National Assembly
Office, which strengthens and closely connects in management and guidance of
the Party and National Assembly in this field.*

Professor and Doctor Phung Huu Phu, member of the Central Party Committee
and deputy standing head of the Central Commission for Propaganda, stressed
this topic at a conference to review six first months of this year and carry
out the plans of the following six months under the program "Intensify
leadership role in HIV/AIDS prevention" held July 15 in Hanoi.

At the event, participants listened to an introduction about the joint
decision on the establishment of a steering committee for the program
"Intensify leadership role in HIV/AIDS prevention" by the Central Commission
for Propaganda and the National Assembly Office. This program is sponsored
by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Swedish
International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in order to improve
capacity in steering, monitoring and awareness of party members, and members
from the National Assembly, sectors and mass organizations in HIV/AIDS
prevention.

The program includes two projects: 40232 and 42513, carried out by the
Central Commission for Propaganda and the National Assembly Office
respectively.

Participants listened to reports on the implementation progress of the two
projects in the first six months and the plans in the second half year. At
the event, representatives from the UNDP analyzed implementation of the two
projects and proposed solutions to carry out projects more effectively.

The program so far is being carried out in Lang Son, Khanh Hoa and An Giang
and in some ministries and central sectors and departments. It is expected
to last until 2010.
