	Dear Friends, Myself Anant Dhillon am representing America region at the United Nations Commission for Sustainable Development Major Group on Children and Youth [YOUTH Caucus] as the Regional Coordinator for North America. I look forward for the kind support of your organization as well as like minded individuals to be part of the participatory process for the ongoing policy guidance on Sustainable Development. The CSD is the high-level forum for sustainable development within the United Nations system. http://www.un.org/esa/dsd/csd/csd_aboucsd.shtml http://www.un.org/esa/dsd/dsd_aofw_mg/mg_orgapart1011.shtml The United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) was established by the UN General Assembly in December 1992 to ensure effective follow-up of United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as the Earth Summit. The Commission is responsible for reviewing progress in the implementation of Agenda 21and the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development; as well as providing policy guidance to follow up the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (JPOI)at the local, national, regional and international levels. The JPOI reaffirmed that the CSD is the high-level forum for sustainable development within the United Nations system. I am designated for collective response and increasing the outreach of participatory process with active support from the individual Youth and youth led organizations. I am designated to prepare the comprehensive youth response related to issues and ideas on sustainable development for the next session of Commission for Sustainable Development at UNITED Nations. http://www.un.org/esa/dsd/susdevtopics/sdt_index.shtml The CSD-18th session will focus on the following thematic issues: - Transport - Chemicals - Waste Management (Hazardous & Solid Waste) - Mining - 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption & Production Patterns. These thematic areas will be addressed holistically, taking into account economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. The youth response is important as our future is on stake. So we must keep our eyes & ears open about what is being said and done.
