	I am OMEH JOSEPH ILEMA,25 years old,male,Nigerian and presently residing in Nigeria and a founder member of the Niger Delta Youth Forum.A forum that was formed to give youths in the region sense of belonging and an avenue to discuss issues that are affecting youths in the region.the greatest problem affecting the youths of this region is the issue of unemployment.this plague has made the youths so hardened that they are willing to do just anything to make ends meet. -overview: -Unemployment is tremendously affecting the thinking faculty of these youths and has made them the tools of most politicians in the region who give them little or nothing to perpetuate all sorts of societal ills.these youths are now like a timebomb waiting to explode.they have been made to reason irrationally because it is widely believed that he who pays the viper dictates the tune. -The situation of unemployment has grown so high that eighty percent(80%),of all the graduates that comes out the higher insttitutions of learning are unemployed as at the time they come out of the compulsory one year scheme that is stipulated by the country's educational system.i have been opportuned to come across people that have come across people that have been unemployed for up to ten years after graduation.how do you convince that kind of individual that getting what he/she wants illegally when suffering and hardship is the plague ravaging the head of that young man. EDUCATION -The educational system in my country is not in anyway helping the youths that are coming out of the tertiary institutions of learning in my country.their is no adequate training for these youths which makes it diificult for these youths to cope when they go out into the large society. -Another problem that is affecting the youths of my country is the issue of the regulating authorities not producing the relevant statistics of jobs available in all given goepolitical area. TRAINING . Presently,there is no given training or career counselling body in my country that should be empowered to give these graduates the needed training on how to excel in the larger society.all they have are bodies on the pages of newspaper that you dont even know how to get across to or even contact.how do you explain to the larger society that some given youths won certain graduates won scholarship to study abroad?when was the scholarship advertsed?who were the group of people that applied and what was the screening and eligibility criteria? until somebody starts addressing these issues it will be difficult for the majority of the people that needs these scholarships to access them.these scholarships are given to the sons and daughters of the most influential members of the larger society. POLICIES. One of the most outstanding issues affecting the youths and the unemployed in my country is the Government not being sincere towards fighting the menace of unemployment.They dont even think of how to plan for the future of the yet unborn child.all they are after is enriching themselves and their immediate families.what then happens to the rest of the youths languishing in poverty?until the government opens up and shows high degree of sincerity towards fighting these problems,many of those issues can and will never be resolved.Government should set out policies and frameworks that would greatly support youths towards lifting them from the gulag of unemployment.until that is rightly and sincerely put in place unemployment will remain the greatest plague ravaging youths in my country and will be the major cause of the high rate of youth restivaness and crime in my country. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
