El GEO Juvenil ALC fue iniciado en 1999 por la División de Evaluación y Alerta Temprana de la Oficina Regional para América Latina y el Caribe (DEAT-ALC) del Programa de las Naciones Unidas par el Medio Ambiente dentro del contexto de la serie de evaluaciones GEO. La expectativa del proyecto es promover la participación juvenil en el proceso de desarrollo sostenible en la región a través de evaluaciones ambientales integrales. A lo largo de este proceso, los jóvenes comparten sus experiencias y puntos de vista sobre temas ambientales y cómo afectan a sus comunidades.

The GEO for Youth LAC was initiated in 1999 by the Division of Early Warning and Assessment (DEWA) of the United Nations Environmental Programme Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (ROLAC), within the context of the GEO assessments series. The expectation of the project is to promote and foster youth participation from across the region in sustainable development through integrated environmental assessments. Throughout the process, youth share their experiences and views on environmental issues and how those issues affect their communities.
