Cotton On conference, May 9th

Come to Bristol on May 9th to find out all about the cotton industry.
Bishopston Trading Company, Oxfam SW, Soil Association and Bristol Fairtrade
Network are collaborating to host, Cotton On, a one day conference about
cotton's journey from field to fashion, with a strong emphasis on Fairtrade.
It will be a unique opportunity to debate the key issues and to take action
for change
Speakers include: Lucy Siegel (The Observer), Barbara Crowther (Head of
Communications, Fairtrade Foundation), Monica Philbrick (Producer Support,
Traidcraft), Abigail Petit (Founder and Designer, Gossypium), Carolyn
Whitwell (Founder, Designer, Director, Bishopston Trading Co) and many more.
Workshops: Is Fairtrade Enough?, Organic: Myths and Realities, From Plant to
Product, Sustainable Design.
The day is open to everyone with an interest, from fashion students to
ethical consumers, from textile manufacturers to campaigners, from clothing
retailers to certifiers, from development students to designers. Come along
and find out more about this amazing fibre, which involves over 100 million
households globally in its
production and many more in its design, manufacture, retail and consumption.
