Diversity Youth Alliance is a cross-cultural youth solution oriented group founded on the hope of bringing young people from all walks of life onto one platform, building a conducive environment that will enhance youth involvement and sharing of creative ideas for sustainable development.
It also seeks to ensure an improved quality of life and peaceful youth-to-youth co-existence, while encouraging a collective action against adverse challenges threatening our lives and barriers separating us. We believe in the youth and their ability to make tremendous change should the chance be given them. We want them to be incessantly aware of whom they really are and the unbelievable power that lies hidden in them. We want the voice of the youth to be heard and involved in the process of improving the future of our world.
Furthermore, it is our profound hope to become a home where the youth brood and hatch beautiful dreams. In as much as we can, we hope to transform the life of every individual that walks through our doors leaving a lasting impression on their memories forever.
DYA provides the necessary platform for a people who are passionate for a better world, a generation eager to be heroes of their time and individuals pregnant with dreams, talent and potentials yet to be discovered.
By showing solidarity and reciprocity, we join hands in support of one another. And once we are through, we encourage recipients of our selfless spirit and collective action to show similar concern.
The world is rapidly changing. Each day leaves huge uncertainties in its wake. Transition of leadership is gradually taking place with so many questions and issues unattended. Who takes up these places? Sure enough, its today’s generation of youth. Yet we have not for once stopped to ask ourselves how the future will be in the hands of an unprepared and unpredictable generation.
Hot issues continue to arise. Diseases, hunger, violence, insecurity, murder, crime, injustice etc continue to surface. Are we capable of transforming such misfortunes into good fortunes or we will blame it on others? Certainly not, we must be firmly rooted in matters of the future and ready to make a swift take over.
The future is in our hands, the future is DYA.
In pursuit of this, DYA whishes to rally the youth from all backgrounds devoid of discrimination and marginalization to come together as one people with common destiny, marching hand-in-hand with sheer craving for a better world.
Our world of diversity has so much opportunities and possibilities. A diversity youth is a global citizen, an ambassador of peace, tolerant, selfless, sees misfortunes of others as his and share in their joys.
Young men and women the world over are the same: - with similar fears, problems, hopes and aspirations. However, what ever affects a youth negatively anywhere in the world is sure enough to ruin the future we so desire.
Our fundamental aim therefore, is to bring the youth into the limelight. Increase youth participation and involvement in matters related to their self development and communities through diverse cross-cultural and humanitarian activities involving direct exchange of ideas and experiences.
The Diversity Youth Alliance is composed of worldwide youth volunteers who believe in themselves and have taken this solemn ambition and committed towards this cause their time and resources.
All activities, programs, projects and initiatives are youth oriented and practically designed to advocate the youth course.
AIMS/OBJECTIVES
1. Rally the youth with common goal, strengthen bonds of friendship, and promote moral and intellectual development of the youth and to advance and promote cultural diversity.
2. Become a vibrant and dynamic youth leadership platform that will facilitate the raising of a generation of competent leaders in every field and a people conscious of changes around them.
3. To resource the youth with adequate knowledge and skills through face-to-face encounters and information extension to the general public on all aspects of the youth as well as public awareness campaigns and educative programs.
4. Promote cross-cultural understanding; minimize cultural barriers and differences separating individuals and their nations.
5. To become a hatchery of dreams, talents and potentials and to support these to the very maximum height.
6. Effectively equip the youth with the ability to maintain quality mindset and lifestyles and continuously employ their creative ideas in solving real-life issues.
CATEGORIES OF INTEREST
Diversity Youth Alliance have identified some areas of concern where it will focus its variety of activities. Every category is a major area under which issues; problems will be streamlined for attention. Although Diversity Youth Alliance has chosen these fields, it will however not limit itself whatsoever to these categories only. When necessary, it will go outside the chose areas of concern to effect solution. The identified categories of concern are:
