DEBATE TO ACTION’

DTA is a capacity-building training-of-trainers project aimed at young leaders of youth organisations and national youth service programs. The participants learn about international and national frameworks for development, their own roles within these frameworks, and how to share this information effectively with other young people. This knowledge empowers young people to undertake development initiatives within their countries and their communities. The learners also contribute to transparency and accountability, which in turn supports good governance.

The project model promotes learning in three areas: content, skills building, and learning methodologies

The Project seeks to:

§ Strengthen the development knowledge base and information networks of youth organisations
§ Enhance the capacity of young people to become active and effective in helping to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), as well as their country’s goals for development, through their work at the local and state levels
§ Improve the participants’ earning abilities by enhancing their training skills
§ Create opportunities for interactions between young people in the UK and Africa around issues of mutual concern such as HIV/AIDS, employment and the environment.
