Description:
Lami Development Association, (LDA) is a humanitarian, non-profit and non- governmental development organization (NGO) established in January 20 11. It has shown remarkable progress and its project management capacities have grown through experience, capacity-building training workshops and experience sharing schemes with other stakeholders.
Vision
The vision of LDA is to envisage a society in which disadvantaged are cared for by all responsible sectors and grow to realize independence and self- reliance in the community.
Mission
Strive to improve the socio-economic well being of marginalized communities, particularly the poor and OV children and mothers, to help them become self supporting and self reliant citizens through the promotion Gender integrated sustainable urban and rural community development program in the area of basic education, health, vocational training, employment generation advocacy, capacity building. Creating enabling environment, promotion of community-based childcare programs and the provision of basic social services on bases of participation, contribution of the community and the local government
Objectives
The objectives of LDA are to
Enable communities to take care of poor disadvantaged and orphan children to become self-reliant;
Promote/establish effective partnership between communities and Government, NGOs and Private Sector;
Provide institutional care for children who were abandoned and orphaned as a result of civil war and famine, and eventually make them self- reliant and productive members of the society through Child-family Reunification and Reintegration schemes (currently being phased out); and
Develop and maintain LDA as a professional and
Provision of vocational training so that mothers and young women have the skills to generate income in order to gain economic strength.
Ensuring food security at family and community levels through introduction of improved agricultural techniques and farming methods.
Enhance the educational status of the target population through strengthening the non-formal basic education and capacity building of the formal schools to raise the enrollment level and quality of education
Expand and improve the primary health education coverage to the communities through improved preventive and curative services.
Raising the awareness and knowledge of the parents on child development such as timely immunization, nutrition, hygiene, care and other relevant topics.
HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support.
Working on HIV/AIDS, gender and child right programming as a cross cutting issues.
Working with youth to build self-confidence and leadership in their communities.
Income generation training and business generation for youth.
Environmental protection projects to enhance quality of life
